A plug-in picture light that mounts above artwork to cast even, glare-free light across the canvas, finished in classic black.
From House of Troy's Classic Traditional Collection, this picture light is designed for framed art and prints. The black metal shade and base give it a versatile, understated look that works with both modern and traditional frames, while the telescoping arm lets you position the light exactly where you need it.
Best for
- Living rooms and hallways with framed art 24-36 in wide, mounted above the frame
- Home offices and studies where a favorite print or certificate needs dedicated light
- Bedrooms with a single large piece over the dresser or headboard
- Rental-friendly installs - plugs into a standard outlet with no hardwiring
Not ideal for
- Very large canvases wider than about 36 in - the 8 in shade will not cover the full width evenly
- Spaces where a visible cord is unacceptable - this is a plug-in model with a 2-prong cord
- Outdoor or damp locations - not rated for those environments
How bright is it?
Uses one 25W or 40W T10 incandescent bulb (not included). Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer, but a 40W T10 typically produces around 400-450 lumens - enough to illuminate a medium painting without washing it out.
Light color and feel
With an incandescent bulb, expect a warm, golden-white light (around 2700K) that flatters oil paintings, warm-toned prints, and wood frames. The in-line hi-lo switch lets you drop to a softer level for evening viewing.
Sizing and fit
The shade is 8 in wide and the arm telescopes from 7 to 9 in from the wall, so you can position the light just above the frame. Overall fixture dimensions are 8 in wide x 2.25 in high (depth varies with extension). Best for ceilings 8 ft or higher and artwork hung at standard eye level.
